The Third Electrification Model... Considering US Production as the Vanguard for North American Market Expansion
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Genesis is accelerating its electrification strategy by unveiling the brand's third electric vehicle model, the 'GV70 Electrified Model.'
According to the automotive industry on the 16th, Genesis will hold the world premiere event for the GV70 Electrified Model at the Guangzhou Motor Show in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China, on the 19th. On the same day, Genesis posted a teaser photo of the GV70 Electrified Model along with a world premiere announcement on its social media channels. The teaser photo highlights the luxurious front design along with the two-line point, a symbol of Genesis.
Previously, Genesis announced a mid-to-long-term brand strategy to launch only electrified models starting in 2025. As part of this, it released the derivative electric vehicle G80 and the dedicated electric vehicle GV60, and now introduced the GV70 Electrified Model as the third electric vehicle. The GV70 Electrified Model is expected to be launched sometime next year.
The GV70, along with the GV80, forms a core model in Genesis's sports utility vehicle (SUV) lineup. In the domestic market, it sold approximately 33,700 units cumulatively from January to October this year, ranking second in sales after the G80 (about 48,000 units). In overseas markets, it sold about 14,900 units, forming a leading position following the GV80 (about 21,000 units). Accordingly, it is expected to play a key role in targeting the electric vehicle market going forward.
