KT Signs Agreement with Marine Corps to Establish '5G Smart Unit'

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 16th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 15th to jointly establish a 5G-based smart unit with the Marine Corps.
The main contents of this MOU include ▲ joint research cooperation for the establishment and development of the Marine Corps smart unit ▲ technology exchange cooperation for informatization and digital transformation of the Marine Corps ▲ joint promotion of discovering business models for informatization and digital transformation in the defense sector.
Through this, KT plans to identify tasks in areas such as command and control, economic surveillance, education and training, and logistics management of the Marine Corps based on its core competencies in 5G, networks, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, cloud, and quantum cryptography. In the long term, KT and the Marine Corps plan to respectively establish a 5G-based immersive education and training system, a smart aviation unit, and a smart Pohang.

Shin Sujeong, head of KT's Enterprise Division, said, "We plan to promote mutual cooperation such as jointly discovering business models for digital transformation based on 4th industrial revolution technologies like 5G and AI for building smart units, and establishing phased construction plans."
