'Nationwide First Among Local Governments' Mokpo Bus Real-Time Location Service Provided
Real-Time Bus Location Provided on Map with 10cm Precision
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City in Jeollanam-do has launched the country's first "Ultra-Precision Bus Location Information" service providing real-time bus location data on the 6th.
This service utilizes the satellite navigation system "GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)" to display the real-time location information of buses on a map with a precision of 10cm.
The service informs bus arrival information using Bus Information Terminal (BIT) and mobile services, overcoming the limitations of existing systems that could only identify bus location information at the bus stop level, making it difficult to reflect real-time information such as signal waiting or road congestion in the system.
Furthermore, the activated information is displayed in real-time on the Mokpo City traffic information website map screen, showing the actual moving locations and routes of city buses, which can also be checked via smartphones.
The service is very intuitive, allowing users to select a bus icon to view speed, destination, and next stop, similar to a car navigation system.
A city official stated, "We expect this project to greatly contribute to the use of public transportation by Mokpo citizens and visitors to Mokpo," adding, "We are pleased to establish a foundation that enables Mokpo City to fulfill its role as a tourism hub city."
