Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation's 'Eum Iljari Project' Achieves Great Success... Tripling the Number of Applicant Companies
[Asia Economy (Bucheon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Ieum Job Project is receiving great response, with the number of applicant companies increasing more than threefold compared to the previous year.
The Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation recently announced that the number of participating companies in the 'Gyeonggi-do Ieum Job Project' increased from 142 last year to 457 this year, more than tripling. The number of workers these companies plan to hire also increased about fourfold, from 365 last year to 1,375 this year.
The Gyeonggi-do Ieum Job Project connects small and medium-sized enterprises in the province with middle-aged and older job seekers, providing reemployment opportunities by allowing middle-aged job seekers to be employed as regular workers after an internship period.
The Gyeonggi Job Foundation decided to proceed with the Ieum Job Project starting January next year and, as of the 12th, received applications from 457 companies (1,375 people) for participation.
To encourage active participation and promote the Ieum Job Project among companies, the foundation held meetings and on-site project briefings with related organizations.
Additionally, on-site project briefings were held by region?Seonam District (Suwon), Seobuk District (Goyang), and Dongnam District (Gwangju)?conducting face-to-face promotion targeting 67 companies.
The foundation will begin recruiting Ieum Job participants who wish to work at these companies starting from the 25th of this month. Participants will go through the company’s hiring process and a three-month internship before being converted to regular employees. Eligibility requires applicants to be unemployed Gyeonggi-do residents aged between 40 and under 65.
The foundation plans to provide pre-job competency training (OJT) to selected Ieum Job candidates to strengthen their job skills and support job-related education for selected companies to encourage the retention of Ieum workers.

Je Yoon-kyung, CEO of the Gyeonggi Job Foundation, stated, "The high interest in this project appears to reflect the recruitment difficulties faced by local companies due to COVID-19 and the increasing social demand for hiring middle-aged workers. We will actively support resolving the job mismatch between the recruitment needs of small and medium-sized enterprises in the province and middle-aged job seekers by considering measures to maintain middle-aged employment."
