'Daejangdong Investigation' Police-Prosecutor Joint Inquiry Underway... Agreement to Actively Share Forensic Data from Yoo Dong-gyu's Phone
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin, Legal Affairs Specialist] The prosecution and police, investigating the Daejang-dong scandal, met on the 15th to hold an investigative coordination meeting.
The prosecution and police held an investigative coordination meeting from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. The meeting was attended by the head of the dedicated team, including the 4th Deputy Prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office and the head of the investigation division of the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency, with three members each from the prosecution and police.
On this day, the prosecution and police reportedly coordinated the scope of the investigation and discussed cooperation on investigative materials ahead of the indictment and detention of key suspects, including Kim Man-bae, the major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu.
In particular, it is known that the police expressed their intention to actively consider sharing the forensic data from the mobile phone of Yoo Dong-gyu, former head of the Planning Division at Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, with the prosecution.
Earlier, on the 9th, the prosecution requested the police to share the forensic data from the mobile phone of former head Yoo, which is being examined by the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency. This mobile phone was the device that Yoo reportedly threw out the window just before the prosecution's search and seizure at the end of last September.
The prosecution and police announced that they plan to divide the scope of investigation for the remaining various charges related to Daejang-dong and concentrate their investigative efforts accordingly.

Previously, President Moon Jae-in urged on the 12th of last month for "active cooperative investigation between the prosecution and police."
