'Yucheitalja' Yoon Kye-sang Captivates with Action, Birth of Korean Version of 'The Bourne Series' [Comprehensive]
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The Korean version of the 'Bourne Series,' featuring actor Yoon Kye-sang's desperate gestures as he chases memories, has been born.
On the afternoon of the 15th, at the press screening of the movie 'Body Swap' (Director Yoon Jae-geun) held at Megabox COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Yoon Kye-sang said, "I put my life on the line for the action scenes."
'Body Swap' tells the story of a man who wakes up in a different person's body every 12 hours with no memory and fights desperately to find his true self, who has become everyone's target. It is a new work presented by the production team of the 2017 hit movie 'The Outlaws,' which attracted 6.88 million viewers.
Ahead of its release, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, producer of the 'Transformers' and 'G.I. Joe' series, confirmed a Hollywood remake, and the film has been sold to 107 countries overseas.
Director Yoon Jae-geun said on the day, "I wanted to make an entertaining movie. I wanted to convey the pleasure and thrill of the action suspense genre," adding, "I tried to find a point of convergence that is not boring while simultaneously containing the philosophical questions underlying the film."
He continued, "What does it mean to find oneself? It contains opinions and conclusions about 'Who am I,' a theme often dealt with in sci-fi movies," but added, "Since it is not an art film, you can enjoy it without knowing that. However, as a director, I hope viewers discover that aspect as well."
Regarding the premise of a soul entering another person's body, Director Yoon said, "I have thought about wanting to experience that. I got the idea from imagining what it would be like to live someone else's life during difficult times, living different lives every day?it seemed interesting."
Yoon Kye-sang takes on the role of Ace Kang Ian, a national intelligence agent who is chasing himself, challenging himself with seven roles in one. He recalled, "I trained for action for about two months, and the car chase scene was the hardest," adding, "I filmed while feeling the real situation. Running through alleyways without driving was scary. At the same time, I had to deliver long lines, so it was tough."
About the high-level action scenes, Yoon Kye-sang said, "I tried to portray the action of a national intelligence agent who has received professional martial arts training," recalling, "I gave it my all as if my life depended on it."
Park Yong-woo, who revealed a new face by playing the role of Director Park, a national intelligence agent, said, "Villains are interesting characters because they express human frailty," adding, "Dark emotions like jealousy and obsession stem from weakness. When fear and lack lead to craving something, and emotions intensify, they spread into anger, fear, and violence. Isn't that the most honest human nature?"
He continued, "I tried to express the emotions felt at the moment while maintaining the essential framework," and said, "I want to continue playing roles that are emotionally fragile and sick. Through villain roles, I want to express the theme of restoring relationships through humanity."
