[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Iljin High Solus, a hydrogen-specialized company under Iljin Group, announced on the 15th that it will establish a research and development (R&D) center with the goal of completion in May next year.

Iljin High Solus held a groundbreaking ceremony for the R&D center on the 11th of this month at the Wanju Technovalley 2nd General Industrial Complex located in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do. The ceremony was attended by Shin Wonsik, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs of Jeollabuk-do, and Ahn Hongsang, CEO of Iljin High Solus, among others.

The R&D center will have a total floor area of 6,944㎡ (approximately 2,104 pyeong) and consist of three above-ground floors. It will be composed of research, development, evaluation, and testing buildings.

At the R&D center, Iljin High Solus will accelerate the development of new products for future hydrogen mobility, including large commercial vehicles, tube trailers, ships, railroads, and urban aircraft, as well as research to improve the performance of existing hydrogen storage systems. The company explained that by independently establishing a certification testing system in line with the trend of strengthening international safety certifications for hydrogen storage systems, it will be able to enhance product competitiveness.

CEO Ahn said, “Through the construction of the new R&D center, we will establish a systematic research infrastructure and strengthen product competitiveness to further solidify our position as a top-tier technology company.”
