[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the morning of the 15th, at the inauguration ceremony of the 25th Auditor General held in the Grand Conference Room of the Board of Audit and Inspection in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Choi Jae-hae, the Auditor General, stated, "Above all, we must faithfully fulfill the fundamental duties entrusted by the Constitution and laws."
Auditor General Choi said, "From this position, I would like to mention several key points that we should focus on in order to become 'an audit institution that stays true to the basics while preparing for the future from the perspective of the people.'"
He emphasized, "If we strictly audit with an impartial attitude based on principles and standards and produce trustworthy audit results, the core values of the Board of Audit and Inspection?operational independence and political neutrality?will naturally be secured."
Auditor General Choi stated, "In conducting audits, we must thoroughly consider whether the audits we perform align with the importance perceived by the public and how they affect the lives of the people, focusing more on demand-driven audits."
Furthermore, he urged, "We must also devote our capabilities to audits that identify future risk factors and suggest 'tasks and directions to be taken.' By proposing what needs to be prepared in advance, we should become a catalyst for creating a society where the next generation can live comfortably and safely."
