On the 13th, according to the Blue House's public petition board, Mr. A, a high school senior, experienced severe abdominal and lower back pain about two weeks after receiving his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on July 20.
After receiving the second dose of the vaccine on August 10, Mr. A again suffered from abdominal pain and visited a local private internal medicine clinic near his home. The clinic recommended that he visit a larger hospital for possible admission.
The petitioner stated, "However, the larger hospital had too many COVID-19 patients, and as a high school senior, the prospect of long-term hospitalization was burdensome, so he reluctantly continued outpatient treatment with prescribed medication."
Mr. A continued to visit the hospital for medication treatment, experiencing recurring abdominal pain and diarrhea.
The petitioner added, "Just to be safe, comprehensive tests including blood tests, gastroscopy, and abdominal ultrasound were conducted at a general hospital. On September 9, after leaving school early, he had blood tests, and on September 10, ultrasound and gastroscopy were performed."
Furthermore, the petitioner claimed, "The test results showed elevated inflammation markers in the blood, and it was suggested that the Pfizer vaccine was likely the cause."
However, based on the doctor's opinion that inflammation levels could be controlled with prescribed medication, outpatient treatment was continued.
Later, Mr. A suffered from severe abdominal pain again and eventually went to the emergency room. A CT scan revealed "intestinal intussusception," a condition where a part of the intestine folds into the inside of another section, similar to how a telescope collapses.
With necrosis in parts of the small intestine and pancreas, Mr. A underwent partial intestinal resection. During the surgery, abnormal tissue was found, and biopsy results diagnosed malignant lymphoma, a type of blood cancer.
Currently, Mr. A has completed the first round of chemotherapy at a university hospital in Busan and is awaiting the second round of treatment.
The petitioner lamented, "A healthy family lost their health after getting vaccinated to stay safe from COVID-19. It is heartbreaking to see a young person suffer from vaccine side effects and aftereffects, enduring the difficult chemotherapy process."
He continued, "All I can do is report this vaccine side effect case and ask people to pay attention and support the petition."
The petitioner concluded by urging, "I earnestly request a thorough investigation into whether there is truly no causal relationship between the vaccine and this diagnosis, and for the establishment of appropriate response and compensation systems accordingly."
