Daejeon Health and Environment Research Institute, Foot-and-Mouth Disease Vaccine Antibody Monitoring Test
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon City Health and Environment Research Institute announced on the 14th that it will conduct foot-and-mouth disease vaccine antibody monitoring tests from the 22nd of this month to the 3rd of next month.
The monitoring is conducted to verify whether vaccine antibodies have been properly formed in the target livestock after the mass foot-and-mouth disease vaccination in the second half of the year.
Earlier, the Health and Environment Research Institute completed the mass foot-and-mouth disease vaccination for local cattle and goat farms on the 30th of last month.
During the monitoring process, the Health and Environment Research Institute plans to manage farms with positive rates below the standard (cattle 80%, goats 60%) by conducting confirmation tests, imposing fines, administering booster vaccinations, and retesting after one month.
Nam Soong-woo, director of the Health and Environment Research Institute, said, “Daejeon has been regarded as a livestock infectious disease clean city with no foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks since 2012,” but added, “Considering the recent increase in foot-and-mouth disease occurrences domestically and internationally, it is difficult for Daejeon to let down its guard on quarantine.”
