Shinsegae Food Signs Business Agreement with Korea Food Research Institute to Strengthen Food Tech

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Shinsegae Food announced on the 14th that it held a business agreement signing ceremony with the Korea Food Research Institute to strengthen the food tech capabilities of their R&D centers. This aims to enhance the food tech competencies between the two companies and establish an advanced research foundation through the development of food materials and securing core technologies.
They have agreed to conduct joint research with the goal of developing a "consumer-customized food information platform" that provides segmented food information tailored to the characteristics of individual consumers.
They plan to develop a platform integrated with "Smart Food Scanning" technology that enables food certification and data analysis, recommending foods or designing nutrition according to individual characteristics, and also verifying product information such as Halal, Kosher (Jewish dietary law certification), and Vegan, thereby creating a new business model.

Shinsegae Food will also conduct research on shelf-life determination with the Korea Food Research Institute in preparation for changes to the expiration date labeling system to be implemented from 2023. Through this, they intend to improve food safety and establish a leading shelf-life evaluation system.
