China "President Xi Jinping to Attend APEC Summit"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on the 12th via video conference.
On the 10th, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying stated, "At the invitation of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, President Xi will attend and deliver a speech at the 28th APEC summit on the 12th from Beijing via video conference." Hua also mentioned, "President Xi is scheduled to give a speech in the form of a pre-recorded video at the 'APEC CEO Summit' held on the 11th." This meeting will be held on the evening of the 12th under the theme 'COVID-19 Recovery for Our People and Future Generations' Prosperity."
It is reported that U.S. President Joe Biden and President Xi will hold a video summit next week. On the 9th, several media outlets cited sources reporting the U.S.-China meeting. Although expected next week, the exact date has not been confirmed. This will be the first video summit between President Biden and President Xi since Biden took office.

President Biden spoke with President Xi by phone shortly after taking office in February and also had a phone call lasting about 90 minutes on the 9th of last month. The two leaders participated together in a special APEC video meeting in July but did not hold a bilateral meeting.
