2021 Garak Market Kimjang Season Peak Traffic Management Measures 추진
Stepwise (3-step) Traffic Measures Considering Kimjang Season Supply and Demand... Temporary Waiting Areas and Dedicated Parking Spaces for Market Shipment Vehicles to Alleviate Traffic Congestion
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation (President Kim Kyungho) has prepared and implemented the "2021 Kimjang Season Traffic Management Plan" to facilitate logistics and traffic flow and enhance convenience for customers during the peak kimchi-making season at Garak Market.
The plan will be implemented from November 8 to December 3, and will be carried out in phases considering the volume and demand of radish and napa cabbage. The period from November 8 to 13, when the volume starts to increase, will be the preparation phase (Phase 1); November 14 to 29, when the volume is at its peak, will be the intensive operation phase (Phase 2); and November 30 to December 3, when the volume decreases, will be the wrap-up phase (Phase 3).
To alleviate traffic congestion caused by the increase of shipment vehicles within the market during the kimjang season, the corporation will operate a temporary waiting area for radish and napa cabbage shipment vehicles at the large vehicle parking lot in Seongnam-dong (approximately 500 spaces) during Phases 2 and 3, and designate the north side parking lot along Tapjeong-ro (about 70 truck spaces) as an exclusive parking lot for radish and napa cabbage shipment vehicles.
Additionally, to ensure smooth traffic flow, a joint special traffic duty involving the corporation, its subsidiaries, and distributors (up to about 100 personnel per day) will be conducted during Phases 2 and 3. In particular, fixed personnel will be assigned to key management areas such as Bukmun Samgeori (North Gate Intersection) during the kimjang season.
Furthermore, by clarifying and sharing responsibilities among each distribution entity, the corporation will strengthen accountability and intensify crackdowns on violations such as long-term parking and unauthorized parking within the market, unauthorized storage (abandonment) of goods and logistics equipment, and violations of designated parking zones during the plan period.
