Naju City Residents' Autonomy Council Awarded the 'Presidential National Medal'

According to the city on the 10th, Chairman Kim Minju was selected as a meritorious person for local autonomy development in celebration of the 9th Local Autonomy Day hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last month, receiving the highest honor, the Presidential People's Award.

Since 2006, Kim has served as a member of the Yeongsan-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee in Naju and has been serving as the chairman of the Yeongsan-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee and the chairman of the Naju Residents' Autonomy Council since last year.

Through this People's Award, he was recognized for ▲ active participation in residents' autonomy activities and revitalization of residents' autonomy ▲ playing a role in solving local issues linked with the Urban Regeneration Residents' Council activities ▲ revitalizing the local community and promoting city administration, which were stagnated due to COVID-19.

He has been praised for enhancing the autonomy capabilities of eup, myeon, and dong by changing the conventionally continued residents' autonomy center programs into programs suited to local characteristics and proposing resident-led village development projects through 15 years of activities in the Residents' Autonomy Committee.

In particular, he contributes to local tourism revitalization and the formation of resident communities by discovering the 'Yeongsan Story Tour' utilizing the modern historical resources of the underdeveloped Yeongsanpo area and linking the Yeongsan-dong Urban Regeneration New Deal Project with residents' autonomy activities.

Chairman Kim Minju said, "I believe this award is not one I received alone but one received together with the residents of Yeongsan-dong and the residents' autonomy committee members of eup, myeon, and dong who worked hard for village development and community restoration," adding, "I will do my best in my role, breathing together with the residents until the day Naju becomes the number one city for residents' autonomy."
