In September, Ni-on Team ranked first among 105 prospective startup teams in the comprehensive evaluation of overseas practical training organized by the Washington KIC under the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Ni-on Team is a prospective startup company possessing technology for safe high-capacity cathode materials that can be used in electric vehicles and other applications.
They will carry out startup exploration activities, including prototype production, at the UNIST Southeast Region Laboratory Startup Innovation Group until January next year.
The meeting was attended by Park Seo-hyun, the representative researcher of Ni-on Team (Master’s student in Smart Green Technology Convergence Engineering at Pukyong National University), advisor Professor Oh Pil-geon, and officials from the UNIST startup team operating the Southeast Region Laboratory Startup Innovation Group.
During the meeting, they discussed support measures to ensure that Ni-on Team’s technology leads to actual startup ventures after the completion of the startup exploration activities.
The Ministry of Science and ICT is conducting the ‘Public Technology-Based Market-Linked Startup Exploration Support Project’ to promote startups based on laboratory technologies held by universities and research institutes.
Seven regional laboratory startup innovation groups, including KAIST, POSTECH, and Korea University, have begun operations.
UNIST was selected as the Southeast Region Laboratory Startup Innovation Group and supports the linkage of innovative technologies from universities and research institutes in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions to startups.
