Establishing Identity as Peer Counselors Through Various Trainings for Students Completing Basic Courses
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Damyang-gun Youth Counseling and Welfare Center announced that it conducted advanced peer counseling training for high school students in the area who completed the basic peer counseling course.
This program was held three times from the 27th of last month to the 10th of this month, focusing on practicing helping behaviors and creating behavioral commitments, aiming to enhance understanding of various emotions and to establish and develop the identity as peer counselors.
Peer counseling consists of students with a kind personality who want to empathize with their friends' pain, showing positive effects in preventing school violence.
In addition to this training, the center plans to contribute to establishing a culture of consideration in the local community by continuously conducting campaigns and volunteer activities with peer counselors.
A student who participated in the program shared, "I reflected again on the role and meaning as a peer counselor and will actively work to create a non-violent school culture."
