Vice President Kiefer toured key facilities within Korea operations, including Korea GM's Bupyeong Plant, Changwon Plant, and GMTCK Cheongna Test Track, and conducted product test drives. He praised Korea GM and others for achieving significant results amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the global semiconductor shortage this year.
Kiefer visited the Changwon Plant, which will begin production of GM's next-generation crossover utility vehicles (CUVs) starting in 2023, and inspected the preparation status of new facilities such as the newly constructed painting line completed in the first half of this year and the body shop.
Currently, Korea GM's Changwon Plant is undergoing facility conversion work for the production of the new CUV. The goal is to establish an annual production system of 250,000 units through new production facility construction within the existing plant, including the new painting line, press, body, and assembly shops.
