Achieving a high ranking on the Korn Ferry Tour grants eligibility to advance to the PGA Tour the following season. Kim Seong-hyun is the player who made headlines with his surprise victory at the major KPGA Championship last August. When the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO) was suspended due to COVID-19, he competed on the Srixon Tour (2nd tier) and advanced through Monday qualifiers to reach the top. This year, in July, he experienced his first victory since joining the JGTO in 2019 at the Japanese major PGA Championship.
