Chungnam Selected as Best Institution for 'Forest Management'
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province announced on the 9th that the public forest thinning project site in Eumap-myeon, Seosan City was selected as the best institution in the ‘Excellent Forest Thinning Project Site Evaluation’ hosted by the Korea Forest Service, receiving the Korea Forest Service Director Award and a prize.
The evaluation is conducted to discover excellent cases of outstanding forest thinning project sites and to suggest forest management directions for creating healthy forests. The targets are local governments and regional forest services nationwide.
The forest thinning site in Eumam-myeon, Seosan, received excellent results in regulating the density of mid- and upper-layer trees to enhance physiological vitality and in the forest’s air purification and fine dust absorption functions.
In particular, Chungnam was the first among local governments nationwide to reflect local government funds (1,320 ha / 2.1 billion KRW) in the grass cutting project for afforestation planting sites, promoting the establishment of afforestation trees and the growth of standing trees, which was also a positive factor in being selected for the top award for efforts in creating forest landscapes.
