Kyungdong Navien's 'Navien DC Heating Mat' Selected as 2021 Good Design Award Winner
Enhanced Management Convenience and Emotional Design, Conveying the Value of Premium Heated Mats
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Kyungdong Navien announced on the 8th that its recently launched new product, the 'Navien DC Heating Mat (EME500),' was selected as a 'Winner' in the '2021 Good Design Award' hosted by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion.
Since its inception in 1985, the Good Design Award is the most prestigious design certification system in Korea, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KDIP). Based on the Industrial Design Promotion Act, it comprehensively evaluates products' appearance, functionality, materials, and economic feasibility, awarding the 'GOOD DESIGN (GD)' mark to products recognized for design excellence. In particular, products that combine functional performance with outstanding design appeal receive additional awards to acknowledge their value.
Kyungdong Navien earned the honor of being selected as a Winner this year with its newly introduced 'Navien DC Heating Mat.' Above all, considering the product’s use in indoor spaces such as bedrooms for more comfortable sleep, its evolved emotional design that naturally blends into interior environments received high praise.
The Navien DC Heating Mat features an overall design concept of a 'Snow-covered Jar,' embodying a soft and friendly image without corners. The upper cover has a soft texture resembling snow cover, while the lower cover, which is not snow-covered, has a rough surface treatment, emphasizing a contrasting design concept in both shape and material.
Notably, the single jog button on the controller allows easy adjustment and setting of each temperature, providing both fun and convenience through an intuitive and simple user interface. This is why it is regarded as a design evolution moving beyond a mere auxiliary heating device to an essential sleep appliance.
