The ‘Safe Boarding and Alighting Zone in Children Protection Zones’ refers to a section within the children protection zone where stopping is allowed for up to 5 minutes exclusively for student school vehicles, so that children who have to commute by vehicle due to long distances or mobility difficulties do not experience inconvenience.
These zones are mainly selected near the front or back gates of children protection zone facilities, and blue guide signs are installed at both ends in accordance with the Road Traffic Act Enforcement Rules.
The district selected the target locations by collecting opinions from the heads of 76 educational facilities within the area and parents, and after consultation with the Gwangjin Police Station and Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, completed the installation of the ‘Safe Boarding and Alighting Zone in Children Protection Zones’ sections by the end of October.
Currently, in Gwangjin-gu, 16 sections in 13 children protection zones including elementary schools, kindergartens, and daycare centers have been designated as ‘Safe Boarding and Alighting Zones in Children Protection Zones.’
