Democratic Party: "Yoon Seok-yeol Must Clear Suspicions That Could Disqualify His Candidacy First"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The Democratic Party of Korea congratulated Yoon Seok-yeol, who was elected as the People Power Party's presidential candidate on the 5th, saying, "We congratulate you on becoming a presidential candidate just four months after entering politics," but also sharply criticized him, saying, "You must first thoroughly shake off the many suspicions pointed at you."
On this day, the Democratic Party took a tough stance toward Yoon, who became the ruling party's presidential candidate, urging him to actively cooperate with investigations into allegations such as the prosecution's alleged instigation of complaints.
Ko Yong-jin, the chief spokesperson of the Democratic Party's election campaign committee, said in a written briefing, "While it is proper to sincerely congratulate Yoon, who became the presidential candidate of the main opposition party, it is difficult to do so for the person who severely undermined the neutrality of the prosecution and disrupted the national order," and pointed out, "Regrettably, numerous suspicions are trailing Yoon."
Chief Spokesperson Ko criticized, "The various suspicions surrounding Yoon are such that if even one of them is true?considering the vast number of related persons, the harmful consequences, the meticulous methods, and the long duration?he would lose his qualification as a candidate." He continued, "Yoon must first thoroughly shake off the many suspicions pointed at him. He must promise to actively cooperate with investigations into corruption allegations."
He also said, "Yoon is trying to turn the presidential election into a stage of disgrace with arrogant remarks like 'You just need to learn,' without presenting any vision to the people," and added, "There is deep doubt whether Yoon can undergo a complete transformation."
