Selection of 10 Seed Industry Infrastructure Project Operators Next Year Including Yeoju Nonghyup
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 5th that it has selected 10 agricultural producer organizations, including Yeoju Nonghyup, as operators for the 2022 'Seed Industry Infrastructure Establishment Project.'
The government will support each company with up to 5 billion KRW over 1 to 2 years to enable operators to efficiently supply excellent seeds and seedlings to farmers.
The Jeollanam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services, selected in the tea tree sector, plans to replace existing wild species with domestically developed variety seedlings. Yeoju Nonghyup plans to expand the distribution of domestically produced specialty rice to replace foreign varieties.

Kim Jong-gu, Director of Agricultural Life Policy at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, said, "This project will establish a system where local governments or farmers in major production areas can independently supply excellent domestic varieties of fruit tree seedlings, vegetable seeds, and specialty rice seeds."
