Jinju City Promotes Creation of 'Wolasan Forest Garden' as National Garden
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, is promoting the development of the comprehensive forest welfare facility ‘Wolasan Supsok-ui Jinju’ being created in the Dongsan-ri area of Jinseong-myeon, into the ‘Wolasan National Garden,’ including the surrounding areas.
On the 4th, Jinju City announced that on the 5th, it will hold a ‘Wolasan National Garden Creation Business Agreement Ceremony and Symposium’ with Gyeongsang National University, the region’s leading think tank, at the City Hall Citizen Hall to develop ‘Wolasan Supsok-ui Jinju’ into a national garden.
‘Wolasan Supsok-ui Jinju’ is a differentiated comprehensive forest welfare facility centered on Wolasan Mountain, characterized by the forest resources and landscapes of the southern region, and is currently under active development.
Starting with Wolasan Woodland, it is transforming into an upgraded forest recreation destination with facilities such as a forest children’s library, natural recreation forest, and forest leisure sports facilities, and is scheduled to open by the end of this year.
The city is also working to complete the creation of a healing forest by 2023 so that citizens can enjoy universal forest welfare benefits throughout their life cycle. It also presented a vision to become a comprehensive platform for garden culture that sets another standard following Suncheonman National Garden and Taehwagang National Garden.
