"Take Care of Vulnerable Groups in the Community"... POSCO Chemical Strengthens 'Corporate Citizenship'
Food Charging Station 2nd Branch Opens in Sejong City, Home to Anode Material Factory
First Branch Opened in Pohang in 2020... Gwangyang, with Cathode Material Factory, Also Scheduled to Open
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] POSCO Chemical is strengthening the 'Corporate Citizenship' initiatives, the management philosophy of the POSCO Group. The company is expanding the 'Hope Recharge Love Sharing Food Recharge Station (Food Recharge Station)' project to support vulnerable groups in the communities where its factories are located.
On the 3rd, POSCO Chemical held the opening ceremony of the second Food Recharge Station at the Sojeong-myeon Office in Sejong City.
The Food Recharge Station is a social contribution program developed by POSCO Chemical to regularly provide daily necessities to vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone and basic livelihood security recipients near its business sites. It is installed inside public institutions in cooperation with local governments and social welfare organizations to allow local residents easy and convenient access.
Using funds from the 'POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation,' which is created through a 1% salary donation from employees and matching grants from the company, the program supports the installation of fixtures such as display shelves and refrigerators inside the Food Recharge Station, as well as the purchase of daily necessities. Volunteer activities are also conducted where employees deliver goods to elderly people with mobility difficulties.
The Food Recharge Station first opened in Pohang last year, and this year the second branch was opened in Sejong City, where the anode material factory is located. Another branch is planned to open in Gwangyang City, where the cathode material factory is located. The number of beneficiaries will increase from 100 to a total of 350, with an annual support budget of 95 million KRW.
Lee Tae-hee, Head of the Corporate Citizenship Office at POSCO Chemical, stated, "Following the installation of the first Food Recharge Station in Pohang in 2020, we feel rewarded to expand practical support to vulnerable local residents by opening the second branch in Sejong City."
