"Launch of Network Stability Task Force to Prevent Recurrence of Communication Failures"
Ministry of Science and ICT Holds 1st Meeting on the 2nd
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] The Ministry of Science and ICT has formed a 'Network Stability Task Force (TF)' to establish measures to prevent recurrence following the large-scale network outage incident at KT on the 25th of last month, and will operate it for about one month until early December.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the afternoon of the 2nd that it held the first meeting at the Korea Information and Communication Contractors Association conference room in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
The TF, led by Heo Seong-wook, Director of the Network Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, includes public and private experts from the Korea Communications Commission, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, National Information Society Agency (NIA), Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), KT, SK Telecom, LG Uplus, SK Broadband, LG HelloVision, and Sejong Telecom.
The TF plans to develop measures to secure network stability based on issues related to network management and operation revealed during the analysis of the causes of this network outage incident.

Heo Seong-wook, Director of the Network Policy Office, stated, "As network dependency deepens with recent digital transformation, we will promptly establish countermeasures to alleviate concerns about the continuity of communication use and further devise plans to build a safe communication environment that supports the development of a reliable data-driven society."
