Goheung-gun, All-Out Effort to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Jeonnam Goheung-gun (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 2nd that due to the recent surge in COVID-19 confirmed cases, a control post has been operating at Geogeum Rest Area in Geumsan-myeon since November 1 to block the spread of COVID-19.

The control post is being operated from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with residents' cooperation to curb the rapid spread of COVID-19 infections occurring in the Geumsan-myeon area.

During the specified hours, passengers in vehicles leaving Geumsan-myeon are checked for COVID-19 testing status and fever symptoms. If a high temperature is detected and COVID-19 infection is suspected, they are urged to refrain from going outside and to get tested at a screening clinic.

About 20 Goheung-gun officials and two traffic control vehicles, along with fever screening equipment, have been deployed for the operation of the control post. Additionally, with the cooperation of the Goheung Police Station, five police officers and two police cars were dispatched to manage traffic signals and vehicle control.

This control post operation demonstrates Goheung-gun’s strong determination to promptly end the spread of COVID-19 by raising residents' awareness of the seriousness of the current rapid spread of infections in the county and encouraging them to refrain from going outside.

Song Gwi-geun, Governor of Goheung-gun, said, “With the continuous occurrence of COVID-19 confirmed cases in our county, an emergency has been declared for county quarantine. We have swiftly completed mass testing of residents by operating screening clinics in each village and will control inter-regional movement as much as possible to end the spread of COVID-19 within a few days.”
