[Concall] Samsung SDI "Limited Impact from Car Semiconductor Supply... Will Strive for Battery Profitability"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Samsung SDI stated during the Q3 earnings conference call on the 2nd, "The semiconductor supply issue is expected to continue until next year, but automakers are prioritizing semiconductor allocation to electric vehicles (EVs) to meet carbon dioxide regulations," adding, "Compared to internal combustion engine vehicles, the impact on production disruptions is relatively less." They further explained, "Many automakers are focusing more on EV production," and added, "Although PHEVs (plug-in hybrids) are somewhat affected in sales, we will expand the supply of batteries for new EVs starting from Q4 and work closely with customers to discuss market conditions in order to achieve the originally planned sales and annual profit targets."
