Jeonju City Expands Financial Support for Aging Water Pipe Improvement Construction
From Next Month, Renovation Costs for Aging Water Pipes Increase from 50% to 70%
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City is expanding financial support for the renovation of aging water supply pipes so that citizens can safely drink clear and clean tap water.
According to Jeonju City on the 2nd, following the revision of the ‘Jeonju City Water Supply Ordinance’ last September, the support for renovation costs of aging water supply pipes has been increased from the previous 50% level to up to 70%.
The aging water supply facility support project provides partial financial assistance for renovation (cleaning, rehabilitation, replacement) of corroded aging water pipes inside buildings. With the revision of the Jeonju City Water Supply Ordinance, which previously provided low subsidies compared to current prices, the support amount has been raised.
The eligible facilities include △ social welfare facilities △ residential buildings with a total floor area of 85㎡ or less (in the case of apartment complexes, sale housing complexes where 50% or more of the households have an exclusive area of 85㎡ or less) △ schools △ houses owned by recipients of public assistance.
For aging single-family houses with a residential area of 85㎡ or less, support can be received up to 70% of the total construction cost.
Additionally, apartment complexes where 50% or more of the households have an exclusive area of 85㎡ or less can receive up to 50 million KRW, and multi-family houses (330㎡ or less) can receive up to 3.5 million KRW.
Furthermore, schools and social welfare facilities can receive support up to 20 million KRW within 70% of the total construction cost.
Jeonju City has supported the replacement of aging water supply facilities at a total of 79 locations from 2010 to last year.
