Iljin Electric to Supply $40 Million High-Voltage Cables to New England, USA
[Asia Economy Reporter Junhyung Lee] Iljin Electric, a subsidiary of Iljin Group, announced on the 2nd that its North American branch has signed a contract worth 40 billion KRW to supply ultra-high voltage cables to a major power authority in the New England region of the northeastern United States.
This contract is part of a large-scale project to replace aging cables with 115-kilovolt (kV) ultra-high voltage cables to establish a stable power grid in the northern Boston area. Iljin Electric will supply the project on a full turn-key basis, including the removal of old cables, civil engineering work, installation of new cables, and system commissioning tests.
Previously, in 2016, Iljin Electric successfully completed a new cable replacement project with the same power authority. The company explained that this re-contract was significant as it was based on Iljin Electric’s technological expertise and trustworthiness.
In February of this year, Iljin Electric also exported a 500kV transformer to the Ohio power authority, expanding its market share in the ultra-high voltage power sector in the Americas. Iljin Electric is the only company in Korea that manufactures ultra-high voltage cables, ultra-high voltage transformers, and circuit breakers together.
