On the 1st, Yu Gye-hyun, a member of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council's Education Committee (People Power Party, Jinju 3), held a "Forum for the Enactment of the Ordinance Supporting Nammyung Philosophy Education by the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education" at the provincial council's main conference room.
The forum began with presentations on topics including Yu's "Proposal and Explanation of the Ordinance Supporting Nammyung Philosophy Education by the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education," Gyeongsang National University Professor Emeritus Kim Young-gi's "Our History, the Need for a New Dialogue," Professor Jeon Byung-chul's "What Meaning Does Nammyung Philosophy Hold for Us Now?" and Professor Song Sun-young's "From an Educational Perspective, How Should Preparations for Including Nammyung Philosophy in Textbooks Be Made?"
In the subsequent discussion, Professor Emeritus Kim served as the chair, with Kim Ik-su, Superintendent of Career Education and Career Scholarship at the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education, Jeon Je-dong, Superintendent of Curriculum at the Gyeongsangnam-do Secondary Education Division, and Councilor Yu participating in the discussion and Q&A session.
Councilor Yu stated, "I hope that teaching Gyeongnam students about the historical facts and philosophical ideas of Nammyung will help establish a correct historical awareness and foster civic consciousness and identity among the residents."
