Gwangju Seo-gu Operates 'Loss Compensation Reception Desk' for Small Business Owners

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 1st that it will operate an ‘Offline Application Desk for Small Business Loss Compensation’ starting from the 3rd for small business owners who suffered damages due to assembly bans or business restrictions caused by COVID-19.

The eligible applicants are small business owners who experienced business damages from assembly bans or business hour restrictions between July 7 and the 30th of last month.

The small business sectors eligible for loss compensation include entertainment, danran (social) bars, emotional pubs, colatec (including dance halls), hunting pocha (outdoor bars), holdem pubs, coin karaoke rooms, restaurants, (unmanned) cafes, bathhouses (including saunas), direct sales promotion centers, indoor sports facilities (groups 2 and 3), and indoor sports facilities (swimming pools).

The compensation amount will be calculated considering the business’s average daily loss, the duration of quarantine measures, and a correction rate (80%), with compensation payments ranging from a minimum of 100,000 KRW to a maximum of 100 million KRW per quarter.

Online applications started on the 27th of last month via the website, and small businesses in Seo-gu that have difficulty applying online can visit the offline loss compensation application desk on the 2nd floor of Seo-gu Office starting from the 3rd to apply in person.

Common required documents for application include an ID card and a business registration certificate (or business registration confirmation) issued within the last month. Since additional documents may be required depending on proxy applications or business types, inquiries are recommended before visiting.
