The agreement ceremony, held online in a non-face-to-face signing format on the 28th of last month, was attended by Kim Byung-kwon, head of SK Ecoplant OTO Center, Kim Won-gi, CEO of Environmental Facilities Management, and Kim Geun-ho, CEO of Rico.
This project is the first collaboration and joint research project with an environmental startup selected in the ‘SK Eco Innovators Y21’ technology contest held last August. Rico operates an integrated waste management platform and received excellent evaluations by presenting a resource connection platform idea at the recent 'SKIL (SK Innovation Lab) Demo Day' event.
SK Ecoplant plans to improve issues in the resource connection process with Rico and establish an advanced resource circulation system. To increase resource circulation efficiency in the waste market, they will share some waste management and treatment processes and build a data-driven and computerized system based on this.
Kim Byung-kwon, head of SK Ecoplant OTO Center, said, "The domestic waste market consists of many small-scale companies, so it was crucial to integrate them through data technology and secure transparency in the treatment process." He added, "Through this agreement, we expect to advance the technology of the waste market and increase the resource circulation rate, taking a step forward in creating a true circular ecosystem."

Kim Geun-ho, CEO of Rico, said, "Through this agreement, we expect to realize datafication of the entire waste treatment process and identify sections where the resource circulation rate decreases at each stage, thereby increasing the resource circulation rate in the domestic waste market."
