'Back to Single Digits' as Daily COVID-19 Cases in Gwangju Drop to 5
Concerns Over Large-Scale Outbreaks as Halloween Events and Phased Return to Normal Life Overlap
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] In Gwangju, where double-digit confirmed cases occurred for two consecutive days, the number has dropped sharply to single digits again.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 1st, five people were confirmed positive for COVID-19 the previous day, classified as cases 5372 to 5376.
Among them, one case is related to the administrative order for job placement agencies, two cases are related to existing confirmed patients, one case is under investigation for infection route through symptomatic testing, and one case is an overseas entrant from Belarus.
Since Gwangju City issued a mandatory testing administrative order for workers and users of job placement agencies, 56 people have been confirmed positive.
Although the number of confirmed cases has dropped sharply, health authorities remain vigilant.
They are concerned that large-scale infections could occur due to the special nature of weekends and holidays, Halloween events held in various places during the weekend, and the overlapping start of the ‘gradual daily recovery’ from this day.
A health official said, “As the weather gets colder, indoor ventilation may not be done well,” adding, “Indoor quarantine rules must be strictly followed, and personal guidelines must be carefully observed to enter a stable ‘With Corona’ phase.”
