Wemakeprice, Overseas Flight Ticket Sales Increase..."90% Say 'Will Leave Within the Year'"
Overseas Airfare Transaction Amount Increased by 790% in October
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] As we enter the 'With Corona' era, the number of 'Quick Travel' travelers who leave immediately within the year is increasing. Wemakeprice announced on the 1st that, after analyzing overseas flight ticket sales data from last month, the transaction amount increased by up to 790% compared to the previous month, and nearly 90% of these customers purchased tickets for immediate departure within the year.
Reservations for overseas flight tickets departing three months later, in early next year (January to March), account for about 10%. With more countries signing travel bubble agreements and the government declaring the transition to 'With Corona' in November, consumers are increasingly turning their attention to overseas travel.
The high proportion of flight ticket payments for trips departing soon is believed to reflect the pent-up travel consumption sentiment suppressed by COVID-19, with people eager to travel as soon as possible. This differs from past travel consumption patterns where overseas flight tickets were purchased with more time flexibility.
