Porsche Korea Launches 'Dreamers On' Campaign for Emerging Domestic Artists
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Porsche Korea announced on the 31st that it selected the final winners of the 'Dreamers on' campaign, which supports emerging domestic designers and artists, at the Porsche Korea office in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 29th.
Dreamers on is a campaign by Porsche, a brand that started from Ferry Porsche's dream, aimed at encouraging participation from new target groups worldwide and supporting their dreams. In Korea, participants were recruited in June under the theme 'Driven by Dreams, Driven by Porsche,' and 20 finalists were selected across three categories: painting, graphics, and motion graphics.
The finalist works were exhibited for two months starting last month at the 9th Gwangju Design Biennale, attracting significant attention. During the exhibition period, the final winners in each category were selected through a second master judging round, online voting, and brand evaluation.
The final winners were Choi Ju-rim (Chasing a dream), Lee Hyun-jun (1:1 Decal Sheet, 1:10 Decal Sheet), and Nobisurf (Portrait of Ferdinand Porsche). The painting category winner, artist Choi Ju-rim, expressed the Porsche 911, a car that embodies the 'dream' running alive, with vivid colors. In the graphics category, Lee Hyun-jun created decals of the Porsche 911 GT3 in actual scale with his son, attempting to turn pure ideals into reality. In the motion graphics category, Nobisurf (Park Jun-sik) used a painting technique involving fire to create a portrait of the brand founder Ferdinand Porsche and captured the process on video, creating an exhibition that blends painting and video.
The final winning works will be given various exhibition opportunities, including at the Porsche Korea booth at the 2021 Seoul Mobility Show scheduled for November. Additionally, various collaborations with the artists who advanced to the finals are planned.
