KT to Hold Emergency Board Meeting Tomorrow... Expected to Discuss Compensation Plans and Recovery Measures
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Taemin] KT will hold an emergency board meeting on the 29th to prepare compensation plans and other measures related to the nationwide communication outage that occurred on the 25th.
According to the telecommunications industry on the 28th, KT is expected to hold an emergency board meeting chaired by CEO Koo Hyun-mo. The directors are anticipated to discuss damage compensation plans and recovery measures such as preventing recurrence of the outage. They are also likely to discuss revising the current compensation standards defined in the terms and conditions, such as for "outages lasting more than 3 hours."
CEO Koo Hyun-mo said in the morning to reporters, "We are conducting internal consultations to actively prepare compensation measures regardless of the terms and conditions," adding, "We need to go through the internal board, so we are coordinating schedules with the directors."
Earlier, on the 25th at around 11:20 AM, KT caused a nationwide wired and wireless internet outage lasting about 1 hour and 25 minutes due to a routing error during equipment replacement work for network enhancement in Busan. As a result, KT subscribers nationwide experienced inconvenience as they were unable to use work and daily services around lunchtime.
