The Green Technology Certification is a system by the Ministry of Environment that certifies technologies minimizing greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions by saving and efficiently using energy and resources, based on the Framework Act on Low Carbon, Green Growth.
Construction companies that obtain the certification can receive additional points in the PQ evaluation from the Public Procurement Service for three years.
POSCO E&C explained, "The dust reduction technology for construction sites involves spraying water mixed with an eco-friendly surface hardener, making it more economical and environmentally superior compared to the conventional methods of spraying water or using plastic dust covers."
Dust generated at construction sites accounts for about 33% of domestic fine dust emissions. Water evaporates quickly, and dust covers require opening and closing operations every time soil is transported, which demands significant manpower and costs.
In particular, dust covers generate plastic waste, posing environmental limitations.
POSCO E&C has obtained usage approval from the relevant local governments for the application of the dust reduction technology and has been expanding its application at sites since June.
