Archbishop Lazarus Yuhyung Sik Tests Positive for COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Archbishop Lazarus Yoo Heung-sik, Prefect of the Vatican's Congregation for the Clergy, has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Vatican sources, Archbishop Yoo was confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 through a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test on the 22nd (local time).
Following Vatican quarantine regulations, Archbishop Yoo will enter self-isolation for ten days starting from that day. However, it is reported that he is currently performing his duties normally without any special symptoms.
Since the 16th, he has been staying at the Vatican's "Casa Santa Marta," which serves as Pope Francis's residence.
After being informed of Archbishop Yoo's positive test, the Pope contacted him directly via intercom to wish him a speedy recovery and reportedly also had a brief conversation regarding President Moon Jae-in's visit.
During his self-isolation period, Archbishop Yoo will continue preparations related to President Moon Jae-in's audience with Pope Francis.
