Changwon City to Register High-Value and Long-Term Local Tax Delinquents in 'Public Record Information'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 20th that it will promote the registration of public record information for high-amount tax delinquents as an administrative sanction for local tax delinquency collection.
Registration of public record information is an administrative sanction under Article 9 of the Local Tax Collection Act. It provides personal information and delinquent amounts of those who have local tax delinquencies of 5 million KRW or more, with a delinquency period of one year or longer, or those who have delinquent payments three or more times in one year, to the Korea Credit Information Services to restrict the financial transaction activities of delinquents.
The total number of registrants subject to registration in the jurisdiction is 1,652, and their total delinquent amount reaches 46 billion KRW.
The city is sending advance notice letters to the subjects before providing the information to encourage payment of the delinquent amounts. For livelihood-type delinquents who are temporarily experiencing financial difficulties, the city plans to withhold public record information through installment payments, providing an opportunity for economic recovery.
