Park Chan-dae "Gangster Involvement Rumors? People with Malice Against Lee... Yoon, a 21st Century Jeon Du-hwan"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 20th, Park Chan-dae, spokesperson for Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate (current Governor of Gyeonggi Province), strongly criticized those who raised allegations of gang involvement, calling them "people with malice against Candidate Lee" and "untrustworthy individuals."
On the same day, Park appeared on YTN Radio's 'Hwang Bo-seon's Start of a New Morning' and addressed the 'gang involvement allegations' raised by Kim Yong-pan, a member of the People Power Party, during the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee hearing on the 18th. He said, "It was absurd to claim that the presidential candidate was connected to gangs and had delivered 2 billion won based solely on a single photo of a former gangster," adding, "Within half a day, it was revealed that the photo was fabricated. Not only the content but also the messenger was very problematic."
Park questioned the credibility of the accusers, stating, "The suspicions were raised by Mr. Park Cheol-min and the lawyer who announced them, both of whom are actually untrustworthy." He explained, "Mr. Park is someone who, during the investigation, reported misconduct such as bribery and sexual favors involving public officials to reduce his sentence, a practice known as 'publicity exploitation,' and was incarcerated."
He continued, "Mr. Park revealed that he is the son of Park Yong-seung, a former Seongnam city council member and a candidate for the 18th National Assembly from the Pro-Park Alliance, and the lawyer who made the report ran for Seongnam mayor in 2018 as a Bareunmirae Party candidate," adding, "It can be considered that these people have a very malicious relationship with Candidate Lee."
He further stated, "A member of the National Assembly who once served as the number two in South Korea is connecting the ruling party's presidential candidate to gangs and claiming he received money from them without any verification or filtering, based solely on the unilateral claims of such criminals."

Park then directed his criticism toward former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl. Referring to Yoon's 'Jeon Du-hwan remarks' from the previous day, Park said, "I wonder if a 21st-century Jeon Du-hwan is running as the People Power Party's presidential candidate," adding, "It is lamentable that Jeon Du-hwan, now dressed in a judge's robe instead of a military uniform, is running rampant."
