In the Second Year of COVID-19... Enjoying Halloween Remotely as Well
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] The distribution industry is launching various non-face-to-face events and products in anticipation of Halloween Day, which is just ten days away.
◇Zombie Run → Untact Run
Lotte Property & Development announced on the 20th that the 'Lotte World Tower Halloween Untact Run (non-face-to-face running)' held from the 25th to the 31st has reached 3,000 participants within one day of opening. This event allows participants to run 5 km each at any location using a GPS running application that measures distance during the event period, and then verify their run to participate. Participants receive a 'race kit' including an official Under Armour T-shirt, Halloween mask, glow bracelet, Halloween tattoo stickers, and a commemorative medal. The participation fee of 20,000 KRW is fully donated to welfare medical organizations.
Before COVID-19, the event was held as a play event where participants dressed as zombies gathered and played a chase game with zombies at the venue, but this year it has been reborn as an Untact Run. A Lotte Property & Development official said, "This event was planned by combining 'Untact Run' and 'Halloween' so that people can enjoy both health and festival. More than 70% of participants completed payment registration within one hour of opening, showing great response."
◇Hotel and Home Parties for Families and Friends
The hotel industry is also busy preparing Halloween events. The Mayfield Hotel Seoul's 'Super Kids Halloween with Robocar Poli' package, available on the 30th, includes family participation content. Guests can wear Halloween costumes provided at check-in and visit the event venue to experience Robocar Poli characters, Halloween storytelling, and Robocar Poli coloring. InterContinental Seoul COEX offers an event on the 30th where 'Pinkfong Baby Shark' visits the rooms of guests staying in the 'Kids Forest' package to give Halloween candies.
Sales of food, beverages, and party supplies for home parties continue. InterContinental's 'Grand Deli' will sell Halloween desserts and drinks presented by Eric Calaboke, a senior pastry chef from New York, from the 22nd to the 31st. The Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel's 'The Deli' will also offer homemade desserts until the 31st.
