[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] How will industrial safety and health change after COVID-19?
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency's Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute has released the "Research Report on Safety and Health Prospects and Challenges in the Post-COVID-19 Era" to lead research on industrial safety and health in the post-COVID-19 era.
The report is organized around four main topics: ▲Changes in employment and labor environment and safety and health blind spots due to COVID-19 ▲Prevention of fatal accidents in the post-COVID-19 era ▲Digital-based workplaces and safe telecommuting ▲Occupational health approaches for workers in industrial health blind spots.
Additionally, the report presents ten research topics related to the role and response of industrial safety and health after the pandemic and announces plans to conduct research on these topics starting next year.
The newly published report reflects the research results gathered from opinions collected during a six-session relay forum held in April and May under the theme "Post-COVID-19, Industrial Safety and Health Prospects and Challenges."
The previous forums covered topics such as ▲Safety of platform workers focusing on delivery workers and safety in logistics centers due to the expansion of the online distribution market (April 6), ▲Health protection measures for platform and care workers (April 9), ▲Diagnosis of changes in safety and health environments and identification of hazards due to the expansion of remote work (April 22), ▲Legal and institutional responses to protect vulnerable groups and blind spots in safety and health (April 28), ▲Risk assessment related to the increased use of robots with the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (April 29), and ▲Prospects and future tasks for industrial safety and health in the post-COVID-19 era (May 27).
The forums are available on the "Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute" YouTube channel and can be viewed by topic or speaker.
The report forecasting the post-COVID-19 era by the Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute is posted on the institute’s website and can be downloaded.
Kim Eun-ah, Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute, stated, “It is necessary to carefully observe the changes in industrial safety and health caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and proactively prepare for safety and health in the post-COVID-19 era.”
