[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Nambu Fire Station (Chief Lee Jeong-ja) announced on the 17th that 20 students from Baegun Elementary School, members of the Korea 119 Youth Corps, visited the Bitgoeul National Safety Experience Center and participated in various activities to enhance their safety and disaster response capabilities.
The Bitgoeul National Safety Experience Center is a place where people can learn how to respond to different situations and safety rules to minimize human and property damage during disasters and crises.
On this day, the Korea 119 Youth Corps members received hands-on safety education from professional instructors at the Bitgoeul National Safety Experience Center, including how to respond during an earthquake, actions to take when facing rapid currents caused by heavy rain, mountain safety, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Go Jung-hyun, head of the 119 Disaster Response Team, said, “Due to the recent resurgence and prolonged spread of COVID-19, it has been difficult to conduct face-to-face safety experience education, but we were able to have a meaningful time to appreciate the importance of safety at the Bitgoeul National Safety Experience Center. We will continue to provide various fire safety education programs so that the Korea 119 Youth Corps can lead the safety culture.”
