[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Seongsoo Park) announced on the 17th that it has selected 23 residents who have been actively involved in the local community, from Songpa Sandae Nori transmitters to school principals, as ‘Resident Promotion Models.’
Since last year, the district has been selecting ‘Resident Promotion Models’ to promote various policies and news of the district. In the 1st round, a total of 7 people from 5 teams including families, adults, and seniors were selected and participated.
This year, considering the strong interest from residents last year, the number of selected individuals was significantly increased. A total of 23 people were selected across four categories: ▲Children (ages 5-7, 4 people) ▲Youth (elementary, middle, and high school students, 4 people) ▲Adults (ages 19 to under 60, 11 people) ▲Seniors (ages 60 and above, 4 people).
During the recruitment held throughout August, a total of 150 people participated, resulting in a final competition rate of 7:1.
The selected resident promotion models have diverse activity backgrounds.
In the children’s category, 7-year-old Jiyoon Oh was selected as the youngest transmitter of the Important Intangible Cultural Property Songpa Sandae Nori and performs annually in regular performances. She also participates in promoting traditional culture as a Mudong (dancer) of the intangible cultural property Songpa Bridge Stepping.
In the senior category, 67-year-old Byungtae Lim served as an educator for 36 years. After retiring as a school principal, he is now active as a sculptor, utilizing his background as a graduate of an art university.
Additionally, in the adult category, 26-year-old Juseok Park, who was born and raised in Songpa, is currently nurturing his dream of becoming an actor at the Korea National University of Arts’ acting department. 42-year-old Jaemin Kim has experience as a promotional model for a company he worked for before marriage and is currently a full-time housewife.
At the appointment ceremony held online on the 15th, the resident promotion models showcased a unique performance. Under the theme ‘Songpa Leading Seoul,’ they walked the runway symbolically representing key district projects such as Songpa Dullegil and Songpa Saem.
Over the next two years, they will engage in various activities including participating in the production of district promotional materials, promoting district events and festivals, supporting promotional activities related to each department’s projects, and proposing ideas for district promotion.
