"Impact of Semiconductor Supply Shortage"... Last Month's New Car Sales in Europe Hit Lowest in 26 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Due to the shortage of automotive semiconductors, the number of new car sales in Europe last month recorded the lowest level since 1995.
According to foreign media including AFP on the 15th, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) announced that the number of new cars sold in Europe last month was 718,598 units. This is a 23.1% decrease compared to the same period last year. ACEA stated, "This decline in sales volume is due to a shortage of vehicle supply caused by the ongoing semiconductor supply shortage."
New car sales in Germany last month decreased by about 25% compared to the same period last year. Italy, France, and Spain also saw decreases of 32.7%, 20.5%, and 15.7%, respectively.
