Incheon City and the Incheon Tourism Organization announced that starting from the 18th, they will begin a service that allows customers to order and receive deliveries of traditional market products online using the mobile platform of the local currency 'Incheon e-eum.'
This service can be easily used by Incheon e-eum users without the need to install a separate app or sign up for membership; simply click the 'e-eum Shopping' button on the main screen of Incheon e-eum.
The 'Traditional Market e-eum Shopping' service includes 14 traditional markets and 202 stores, such as Dong-gu Hyundai Market and Songhyeon Market, Michuhol-gu Yonghyeon Market and Seokbawi Market, Namdong-gu Moraenae Market, Ganseok Jayu Market, and Guwol Wholesale Market, Bupyeong-gu Bupyeong Rotary Underground Shopping Center, Bupyeong Culture Street, Bupyeong Kkang Market, and Bupyeong General Market, Gyeyang-gu Gyeyangsan Traditional Market and Gyesan Market, and Seo-gu Gajwa Market.
Among the approximately 3,000 items registered on the online mall, including vegetables, fruits, and meats, customers can select desired products and place orders. On weekdays, orders placed before 5 PM are delivered within 2 hours, and on weekends and holidays, deliveries are made by the next weekday morning.
Delivery is free for orders over 10,000 KRW, and costs 2,000 KRW for orders under 10,000 KRW. For the wholesale markets, Guwol Wholesale Market and Bupyeong Kkang Market, free delivery is available for orders over 50,000 KRW.
The city plans to conduct a pilot operation until the end of this year and, if successful, will expand participating markets and fully implement the service next year. They are also considering a pickup service where customers can visit the stores directly to collect their products.
The e-eum shopping service is a public-private collaboration project involving Incheon City, the Incheon Tourism Organization, the Incheon e-eum platform operator, and 14 traditional markets, and is described by the city as the first case nationwide to utilize a local currency platform.
Notably, this service combines a public platform with a joint delivery center project, offering price competitiveness and cost benefits compared to traditional market shopping services operated using private platforms in other cities and provinces.
Another advantage is the enhanced accessibility and convenience for users by leveraging the Incheon e-eum platform, which has over 1.62 million cumulative subscribers, representing more than 55% of Incheon citizens.
Thanks to the benefit of a 10% cashback on monthly payments up to 500,000 KRW, the number of subscribers has increased, and the cumulative payment amount has reached 7 trillion KRW.
