Gwangju University Department of Beauty and Cosmetology Conducts Senior Longevity Photo Volunteer Activity

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyuk-jong) announced on the 14th that students from the Department of Beauty and Cosmetology recently participated in a longevity photo project for the elderly and carried out hair and makeup volunteer activities.
The Department of Beauty and Cosmetology at Gwangju University regularly conducts volunteer activities through talent donation in collaboration with the local community, including hair dyeing, hair styling, makeup, and nail care.
Professor Kim Jin-sook supervised the on-site guidance for this volunteer activity, with seven participants including senior students Joo Soo-min and Jung Nam-joo from the Department of Beauty and Cosmetology.
Kim Jin-sook, the "No. 1 Master of Beauty in Korea," is an emeritus professor who graduated from Gwangju University, served as a professor at Busan Youngsan University, and is now dedicated to nurturing future talents at her alma mater. She is known for authoring the Level 1 national textbook "Hairdressing" for vocational high schools, being recognized as a new intellectual in the vocational field in 2000, and as the domestic and international pioneer of "Hair Art" through hair recycling.
In particular, for over 20 years, she has been visiting underprivileged neighbors monthly to provide volunteer services such as hair dyeing and cutting, spreading warmth throughout the local community.
Kim Eun-sil, head of the Department of Beauty and Cosmetology at Gwangju University, said, "Through the appointment of Professor Kim Jin-sook, Korea’s first master in the hair field, students will learn a lot and have opportunities to engage in various volunteer activities, fostering a sense of community."
