Jangseong-gun Selected for 2.2 Billion KRW ‘Renewable Energy Convergence Support Project’ Competition

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Doo-seok) announced on the 13th that it has been finally selected for the ‘2022 Renewable Energy Convergence Support Public Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and promoted by the Korea Energy Agency.

This public project supports up to 85% of the installation costs for renewable energy facilities using solar power or solar heat in houses and buildings in specific areas.

In the first half of this year, the county formed a council with specialized renewable energy facility companies and recruited participating households among residents in Jangseong-eup and Hwangryong-myeon, the project target areas, to apply for the project.

Furthermore, it achieved the great success of being finally selected as a project target after the Korea Energy Agency’s open and in-depth evaluation.

The county plans to invest a total project cost of 2.2 billion KRW (national subsidy 1.2 billion, provincial subsidy 120 million, county subsidy 640 million, self-payment 240 million) to support the installation of renewable energy facilities including solar power (874 kW) and solar heat (520㎡) in a total of 319 locations such as houses and buildings in Jangseong-eup and Hwangryong-myeon areas.

When installing residential facilities, it is expected to receive great response from local residents as it can save an average of 40,000 to 60,000 KRW per month on electricity bills depending on electricity usage.

The project will start in January next year.
