Ministry of Industry Holds First 'Carbon Neutrality Expo'
Presenting the Current Status and Future Directions of Our Industry for Transition to Eco-friendly and Low-carbon Economy
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it will hold the "1st Carbon Neutral EXPO" at KINTEX in Ilsan from the 13th to the 15th.
The Carbon Neutral Expo, held for the first time this year, is an event that presents the current status and future direction of our industry’s transition to an eco-friendly and low-carbon economy in response to the global carbon neutrality trend. This event will be held together with the "40th Korea Energy Show," with a total of 297 companies participating and 1,183 booths set up.
The expo, consisting of eight exhibition halls, is composed of carbon-neutral product and technology promotion, support for SME exports, and a venue for public participation. First, the Carbon Neutral Special Hall exhibits government policies and major projects and achievements for industrial transformation toward carbon neutrality and RE100 (Renewable Energy 100%). The Renewable Energy Hall, which has the most participating companies, introduces various renewable energy fields such as solar power, wind power, fuel cells, and ESS with a total of 190 companies. The Energy Efficiency Hall displays products and technologies used in households and industries, including electronic products such as home appliances integrated with ICT, energy management systems (EMS), and efficient equipment.
In addition, the Green Building Special Hall, Smart Lighting Special Hall, Carbon Neutral Technology Best Practices Hall, other local government halls, and Public Energy Hall will also be showcased.
This exhibition includes programs for participating companies’ business, such as networking linked with embassies in Korea and local governments for domestic and international market development. Additionally, programs like "Live Tour," which broadcasts companies’ exhibition content online, and "Live Commerce," which promotes and sells products via real-time streaming, will be conducted. Participatory programs such as the "e-Ontact Talk Show," which explains energy fields and policies in an easy-to-understand manner, and the "Green New Deal Energy Quiz Show" for visitors will also be held.
Meanwhile, to support domestic SMEs in developing overseas markets, more than 60 overseas buyers from 55 countries will be invited for business consultations, export contracts, and memorandums of understanding (MOUs). New product presentations by three companies?Hanwha Q CELLS, First Silicon, and BKM?will also take place.

Park Ki-young, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, stated, "It is necessary to proactively and preemptively respond to carbon neutrality, which has emerged as a new global economic order, and turn it into a new growth opportunity for our economy and industry." He added, "We will actively support private sector efforts in the carbon neutrality implementation process and expand the share of renewable energy power generation to 30% by 2030 in line with the national greenhouse gas reduction target upgrade."
